Brittany Lane is a residential street in East Billerica, about 1,400 feet long, that leaves the west side of Whipple Road, runs southwest and then curves south to a cul-de-sac beside the Boston and Maine Railroad. It was laid out as part of Eastbrook Farms, a "Definitive Subdivision" drawn by Raymond Engineering Service of 574 Boston Road, Billerica, dated September 17, 1995 and revised on November 14, 1995 after planning board comments. The planning board approved it on January 17, 1996, and it was recorded on January 31, 1996 in three sheets (Plan Book 190, Plan 94). The plan shows Brittany Lane 50 feet wide with lots of about 30,000 square feet on both sides, the extension of Harjean Road on the same tract, and an existing house kept on lot 2 at the corner of Whipple Road.
The developer was the Eastbrook Development Corp. of Billerica, whose president and treasurer was Daniel T. Kindred. It bought the land, long held by the Olivieri family, by a deed dated January 31, 1996, the day the plan was recorded, and began selling house lots in May 1996, describing them on a "Definitive Subdivision Eastbrook Farms, Harjean Road" plan. Most of the houses were built from 1996 to 2000. The origin of the name Brittany was not found.
The town accepted Brittany Lane as a public way at the fourth session of the annual spring town meeting, on May 13, 1999, under Article 37, after a public hearing of the Street Acceptance and Discontinuance Committee on April 26, 1999; the extension of Harjean Road was accepted the same night under Article 36.
